This year marks the 60th Battleship North Carolina Memorial Day Observance, where individuals of all ages gather on deck to honor those who have served our nation. With a military guest speaker, Color Guard, 21-gun salute, military band, taps, and a wreath cast into the waters, it's a fitting tribute to those who sacrificed for America.

Battleship NORTH CAROLINA, a key player in WWII's Pacific theater, earned 15 battle stars. Restored as a National Historic Landmark, it honors 11,000+ North Carolinians. Docked in Wilmington, explore nine levels, gun turrets, and crew quarters. The State Employees Credit Union Walkway surrounds the ship.
Since the Battleship North Carolina Memorial Day Observance ceremony starts at 5pm; consider spending the day before the ceremony and take some time to relax in Battleship Park (199 Uss North Carolina Rd), take a leisurely stroll along the Riverwalk and soak in the stunning view of the Cape Fear River. Explore the variety of markets, boutique shops, art galleries, and cozy outdoor cafes and restaurants along the nearly two-mile scenic pathway.
