American Craft Walk

Where: Historic Downtown Wilmington
Spend the day exploring one of Wilmington’s biggest annual outdoor art shows during American Craft Walk. More than 100 artists fill the streets of historic downtown with paintings, jewelry, pottery, photography and other one-of-a-kind creations. Admission is free, making this an easy way to spend a Saturday discovering local artists and enjoying everything downtown Wilmington has to offer.
Wilmington Coffee Fest
When: September 18–19, 2026
Where: Azalea Station, 1502 Castle Street
Coffee lovers will want to put this one on the calendar. Wilmington Coffee Fest celebrates the city’s growing coffee scene with local roasters, coffee shops, bakers and makers. Friday evening kicks things off with a Latte Art Throwdown, followed by Saturday’s festival featuring tastings, demonstrations, live music and food. It is the perfect excuse to explore the Castle Street area while discovering your next favorite local coffee spot.
Water Street Evening Market
When: September 18, 2026, 5–9 p.m.
Where: Water Street between Market and Princess Streets
Take a Friday evening stroll along the Wilmington Riverwalk during the Water Street Evening Market. Local vendors, food trucks, entertainment and handmade goods come together along the Cape Fear River for a relaxed evening downtown. With free admission and free parking beginning at 6:30 p.m., it is an easy way to enjoy Wilmington’s waterfront after a long week.
Hey 23: A Call Back to Tree Hill
When: September 18–20, 2026
Where: Various locations throughout Wilmington
Wilmington’s connection to One Tree Hill gets its moment in the spotlight this September with a weekend celebrating 23 years of the beloved series. The reunion includes a pep rally, a basketball reunion, cast photo and autograph opportunities and an official after-party. For fans of the show, it is a fun opportunity to revisit some of the places that helped make Wilmington famous as a filming destination.
11th Annual ARTfall
When: September 18–26, 2026
Where: Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center, 120 South 2nd Street
Art lovers can discover work from established and emerging artists throughout the Lower Cape Fear region during the 11th Annual ARTfall exhibition and sale. The juried show features both two- and three-dimensional artwork in a variety of mediums, making it a great opportunity to experience the local arts community and perhaps take home something special.
Battleship Alive!
When: September 26, 2026, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
Where: Battleship NORTH CAROLINA, 1 Battleship Road
Step back in time aboard one of Wilmington’s most recognizable landmarks during Battleship Alive! World War II living history interpreters recreate the daily duties and drills of sailors who served aboard the ship, giving visitors an interactive look at what life was like aboard the USS North Carolina. The program is included with regular battleship admission and is a great choice for families and history lovers alike.
Movies on the Fantail
When: September 26, 2026
Where: Battleship NORTH CAROLINA, 1 Battleship Road
For a movie night with a Wilmington twist, head aboard the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA for Movies on the Fantail. September’s screening is They Were Expendable, shown outdoors on the ship’s fantail overlooking the Cape Fear River. Guests can bring lawn chairs, food and beverages and settle in for a memorable evening beneath the stars.
Oktoberfest on the Beach
When: September 27, 2026, 12–5 p.m.
Where: Carolina Beach Pier, 1800 Carolina Beach Avenue North
Welcome fall with a beachside twist during Oktoberfest on the Beach in Carolina Beach. The family- and dog-friendly celebration features live polka music, a seaside pumpkin patch, a stein-holding contest and German-inspired food and drinks.
