Back to School Drives in the Greater Wilmington Area
It’s almost time for your kids to head back to school but there are still ample opportunities to attend back-to-school bashes in Wilmington! Many of these events offer games, food, donation opportunities, raffles, and free school supplies for your children. You will not want to miss out on these events!
Stuff Our Bus, Brunswick County
Where: Walmart, 1675 N Howe St, Southport | Walmart, 1112 New Pointe Blvd, Leland | Walmart, 4540 Main St, Shallotte
When: August 7-8, 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
Gather up some supplies and donate them to any of the 3 Walmart locations listed above and help "Stuff Our Bus" in Brunswick County! All donations collected by Communities in Schools (CIS) of Brunswick County are distributed to children in public schools in Brunswick County to make their school year a success!
Locke's Back 2 School Launch Party
Where: Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park, 5320 Oleander Drive, Wilmington NC
When: August 9, 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Locke, The John Locke Foundation is hosting this free event in Wilmington, and will provide food and drink, school supplies, mini golf, go-karts, and laser tag! The first 100 students to register and show up will receive a complimentary school supply kit with everything they need to succeed in the new school year. Space is limited but there's still time to register for this event!
A Reading Rainbow Community Back to School Fest
Where: Derick G.S. Davis Community Center, Wilmington NC
When: August 10, 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join together with other families from the community for a fun-filled day before the school year goes into full swing! There will be an abundance of activities at this awesome event, from reading and music to games, a cartoon artist, and more! Admission is free. For more information, click here.
Stuff The Bus, New Hanover & Pender Counties
Where: Office Depot, 3727 Oleander Dr, Wilmington NC | Staples, 322 College Rd, Wilmington NC
When: August 14-15, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
The 24th annual “Stuff The Bus” event is right around the corner! The region's largest school supply drive distributes new items to students in public schools across New Hanover and Pender counties. This year’s event, hosted by Communities in Schools (CIS) of Cape Fear, will be held on August 14th and 15th from 10 am to 4 pm. Bring your donations to "stuff the bus" at either one of the 2 drop-off locations and help fill the bus for students to use in the upcoming school year. Additional drop-off sites can be found throughout the area - just look for the yellow collection barrel! This is a wonderful way to give back to the community.
Back to School Bash

When: Saturday, August 17, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Confidence Martial Arts is hosting a free back-to-school event this August! Free to the public, it will have a bouncy house, water slide, face painting, live entertainment, food, store discounts, and more. This Saturday event is perfect for family and friends to enjoy!
Back to School Carnival
Where: Brunswick Beer & Cider, 1313 Dickinson Dr, Leland NC
When: August 17, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Communities in Schools of Brunswick County is throwing a back-to-school carnival for local families to start the school year off with a bang! With live music, popcorn crafts, face painting, balloons, and more, it will be a fun-filled afternoon for the entire community! Bring a school supply for free entry or pay $2 admission.
