Halloween time will be here before you know it which means the city of Charlotte will be filled with fun and spooky activities all around town. From Scarowinds and Oktoberfest to pumpkin patches and haunted trails, Charlotte's got you covered to get you in spooky season mode!
SCarowinds
When: September 13th - October 27th
Where: Carowinds Amusement Park, 14523 Carowinds Blvd, Charlotte NC
Purchase your tickets here… if you dare. Nestled along the coast of North and South Carolina, a spooky night awaits you. This event is perfect if you love thrilling night rides, haunted mazes, scary live performances, and more! New this year, SCarowinds is no longer a separately gated ticketed event. If you're already enjoying the park in the daytime for Tricks and Treats, and/or Oktoberfest, you can continue the thrills into the night. It is strongly recommended that guests are 13 years of age or older.
Mecklenburg Oktoberfest
When: Saturday, October 5th, gates open at 11:00 AM
Where: Truist Field, Uptown Charlotte
Mecklenburg Oktobertfest is back! This free-entry event at Truist Field, presented by Taste of Charlotte Festival, is fun for the whole family! Enjoy local craft beer, a variety of food, live entertainment, kids' activities, shopping, and more at the all day festival. Find all the participating vendors and get more info here.
Hodges Family Farm Pumpkin Patch
When: September 28th - October 31st
Where: 3780 Rocky River Road, Charlotte NC
An afternoon spent at the pumpkin patch or local farm is the perfect family-friendly activity to get in the Halloween spirit! At Hodges Family Farm Pumpkin Patch, have your children pick out their favorite pumpkin and climb hay bales, see barnyard animals, have a picnic, and take precious photos! There will also be treats for purchase such as popcorn, funnel cakes, beverages, and more! Parking fee is $5 per car.
Matthews Playhouse Annual Haunted Trail Fundraiser
When: October 25th - 27th
Where: 100 East McDowell Street, Matthews NC
The Matthews Playhouse is dedicated to making theater accessible for everyone, and this event is a fantastic way to support that mission while enjoying a thrilling family-friendly weekend. The Halloween Fun Zone will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 PM and is geared toward kids of all ages. With crafts, games, a photo booth, face painting, music, and more, there's something fun to do for everyone. At the same time, the "Not-so-Spooky" Trail, a kid-friendly milder version of the haunted trail, will be open for ages 6 and up. For older kids and those daring enough to seek out hidden thrills, the Full Fright Trail will be open from 7:30 to 9:30 PM, recommended for ages 12 and up. Popular local food trucks will be on site serving delicious bites as you explore the Matthews Playhouse Haunted Trail. Tickets are available at the gate and find more info here.
