Welcome to South End

The South End is a neighborhood immediately south of Uptown Charlotte, NC. It’s beginning started back in the 1850’s with Charlotte’s first railroad line, which connected the Queen City to Columbia and Charleston, SC. As times changed a thriving manufacturing community sprang up along the tracks, centered on the booming textile industry. While the industrial avenues declined during the 70’s and 80s, the area was revitalized in the 1990’s. Local business owners, restaurants, and shops pushed the area due to its fantastic location just outside center city.

Most recently, the area has seen tremendous growth through additional restaurants, shops, micro-breweries, and lots of residential growth.
The community’s own website says it best, as it describes the area’s new atmosphere: “Welcome to the heartbeat of Charlotte. Where retro mixes with contemporary, historical bumps up against trendy, and art intersects commerce. Result: a pulsing, vibrant neighborhood in the city with meteoric growth. Okay, it also doesn’t hurt being close to Uptown, the airport, major highways, and smack dab on the LYNX light rail line.”

Be sure to come with an empty stomach for great restaurants like the Crispy Crepe, Price’s Chicken Coop, The Liberty, Pike’s, Tupelo Honey Cafe, Phat Burrito, Mac’s Speed Shop BBQ, and many more. Or just come with a thirst and enjoy a local draught from one of South End’s great microbreweries (Lenny Boy Brewing Co., Sycamore Brewing, Triple C Brewing Co., The Unknown Brewing Co., and the recently opened Wood Robot Brewery).

Catch some live music at Amos’ South End or enjoy some art/music and fun during Food Truck Fridays!
