Ranked in the top 5 most “moved into” zip codes, South Charlotte’s Ballantyne (28277) offers an abundance of shopping, fine dining, business parks, jogging trails, golf and schools that are rated so well, some are opting out of private school and sending their kids to top-rated alternatives.

What can a 2000 acre area of land, just adjacent to the South Carolina border, offer the homebuyer moving into the Charlotte area? Keep reading! Affectionately called the Queen City’s “Boomburg”, this suburb-on-steroids remains one of the most highly sought after for families, young professionals and those retiring to the area. The upscale and trendy lifestyle of Ballantyne offers something for everyone.

Less than 20 years old, this community features a 535-acre Corporate Office Park, with over 4,000,000 sq. ft. of Class A office space that is home to several Fortune 500 headquarters, ESPN and MetLife to name a few. At the very center of Ballantyne – and the first thing people notice when driving into the heart of the area – stand four 30 ft. monuments that mark Ballantyne’s connection and commitment to Charlotte roots. The carvings at the top represent finance, technology and the spirit of Charlotte, and were crafted by a young Yugoslav artist names Boris Tomic. Three years in a Salisbury brick factory were spent by this young man crafting what we now recognize as a Ballantyne icon. An extension of Ballantyne – and also in the 28277 zip code – is the Blakeney area which offers great shopping, churches, restaurants and live music every weekend from May to September. “Music on the Village Green” brings families and folks of every age group to the green grass that surrounds the Blakeney shopping center, for live music and relaxation. “Stonecrest Summer Concert Series” is yet another option, with just a mile between both. With such a collection of shops, restaurants, boutiques, art, recreation and music – as well as the luxurious Ballantyne Hotel & Spa and the Ballantyne Country Club – whether you live, work or play, it can all be done in this beautiful suburb that offers something for everyone. A community that is new and growing – thriving and highly-desired, Ballantyne and Blakeney could very well be the best choice for your lifestyle and needs.
