Rock Hill, SC
Rock Hill earned its name in the early 1850’s when the Charlotte Railroad line came through the area and Winthrop University helped put the small town on the map in 1895. It’s been a long time coming but Rock Hill is earning it’s place as one of Charlotte’s fastest growing cities.
If you are hanging around the downtown area of Rock Hill on a Friday night in the summer, you may find yourself among the dozens of food trucks surrounding Fountain Park with hundreds of other locals. The city hosts an annual Christmasville Celebration that transforms the area into a winter wonderland of fun. In the spring you may stumble upon the Come-See-Me festival which has been held yearly since 1962. If you see Glen the frog and his wife Glenda, give them a wave!
The quaint yet booming city of Rock Hill has been home to some of the greatest football players the NFL has brought to their stage, hence the nickname “Football City USA”. When the Carolina Panthers chose Rock Hill for their new stadium, things started changing quickly. The downtown area has been revitalized by small businesses and the city has an electric bus that allows the residents of the area to ride around town for free. There are also bikes available for free for the first 2 hours you can ride around the streets and enjoy the culture Rock Hill has to offer.
From the World Championships being held at the BMX tracks in Riverwalk and the Velodrome next door, to Knowledge Park and the revitalization of the city and its history, to a newly developed park for people of all ages and abilities to come to play and work dubbed Miracle Park, Rock Hill really is a home for everyone. Pop into one of our local breweries like Slow Play or Legal Remedy for a tasty brew and a bite to eat. Check out one of the new restaurants on Main Street like Kounter or Aye Papi. Take a stroll and enjoy one of the many murals painted on the streets and on the buildings showcasing the talent from the local artists. With the addition of Common Market to the downtown area, it really has something for everyone.
Regardless of the reason life is bringing you to Rock Hill, we can promise you will find something in this city that will make it feel like home.
