The Town of Fort Mill (incorporated in 1873) is located along the I-77 corridor in the northernmost part of South Carolina and is one of the fastest growing communities in the state.
 
The Fort Mill schools are among the best in the state and perform well above national standards.
Fort Mill is home to a number of thriving businesses and corporate offices in addition to abundant green spaces and a variety of recreational venues. Fort Mill became a major center for textile manufacturing in 1887, when Fort Mill Manufacturing Company (later called Springs Industries) was founded. In 2006, Springs Industries merged with a Brazilian textile manufacturer to form Springs Global and moved their headquarters to Brazil. However, Springs Global still maintains a corporate presence in Fort Mill. While textiles are no longer the predominant industry in Fort Mill, the region’s economy has continued to grow and diversify. Today, the Fort Mill Township is home to major employers such as Black and Decker, Comporium, Daimler Trucks North America, Muzak, One Main Financial, URS and Wells Fargo, as well as countless locally owned businesses, shops and restaurants.
 
Fort Mill is a very active community and offers several recreational options, from kayaking to mountain biking to horse-back riding. The Town of Fort Mill has several parks, recreation facilities and green spaces. These facilities are Harris Street Park, Steele Street Park, Confederate Park, Doby Bridge Park, Calhoun Street Park, Walter Elisha Park, and the Spratt Building.
 
In 1995, the Anne Springs Close Greenway, a 2,100 acre nature preserve in Fort Mill, South Carolina, was dedicated to the public to serve as a natural buffer from urban development and a place for countless activities – from hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, to picnics, kayaking and more.
 
Springs Farms (located in Fort Mill) supplies the area with their famous peaches and strawberries. Fort Mill is also home to the award winning South Carolina Strawberry Festival, which takes place every May. Fort Mill has a strong real estate market, where you’ll find several premier neighborhoods like Springfield and Baxter Village.
