The largest city in York County and fifth largest in South Carolina – Rock Hill has much to offer to its residents. Considered to be the commercial center for the region, the city is home to many businesses and institutions – including Winthrop University.
One may be surprised by the variety of events offered by Rock Hill, from the charming Old Town district in downtown Rock Hill, to the tree lined streets in the Winthrop areas, to the beautiful parks.
Rock Hill is host to numerous events and activities: UCI BMX Supercross World Cup Finals, the Old Town Farmers Market exchange, Yoga in the Park, Come See Me Festival, and Christmasville, to name a few.
The Old Town/downtown area is ripe with history and home to many cherished spots – Amelie’s Bakery where you can enjoy pastries, coffee and great sandwiches; McHale’s Irish Pub – a great spot with a large selection of beers, Millstone Pizza – some of the best pizza around, and the City Club are favorites to the locals.

Winthrop University is also a major attraction to Rock Hill. A 100-acre campus located in one of Rock Hill’s five historic districts – Winthrop looks just as a university should look with beautiful mature tree lined streets, old restored homes, and sidewalks.
Rock Hill is also host to many beautiful parks. The beautiful Cherry Park is a premier softball/baseball facility, Spencer Park and Dog Park which is an off-leash dog park, Winthrop Park with playground and tennis practice board, and College Downs hosting a basketball court and picnic shelter just to name a few. One can finish all the shopping they need to do on the popular Dave Lyle Blvd, which is host to many restaurants and retail stores. One of the most exciting new developments in Rock Hill is the new Riverwalk Community. Riverwalk is a riverfront community (the Catawba River) designed with outdoor living in mind. Riverwalk is a 1,008 acre master planned community that will be home to a town center, 850 homes, 250 townhomes and 1,250 apartments.
Riverwalk is host to mountain bike trails, Novant Health BMS Supercross Track, Giordana Velodrome, walking trails, canoeing & kayaking, and athletic fields.
